Hmm. Clearly we need to work on your TV vidiacy (the video equivalent of literacy?). Lord, yes …

(Starts collecting DVDs for a CARE package …)

I mean — I can understand young whippersnapers not having seen “Perry Mason,” or “Lost in Space” … but … but …

    … no “Invader Zim”??!!??!! Gads.

I was shocked that she (and some others whose lists I’ve seen) hasn’t watched Alfred Hitchcock Presents! When I was in junior high and high school, everybody was watching reruns of that show. Anybody who watched The Twilight Zone was sure to watch AHP as well. Apparently it wasn’t as accessible after 1980 or so. 🙁

AHP never seemed to get as much play as TZ in the circles I visited. The stories were also a bit more — well rococo, fancier and less snappy than the Serling tales.

    Still enjoyed it.

Never having watched “The Addams Family,” though — that’s just wrong.

Heck, she doesn’t even have The Twilight Zone on her list! Or the original Star Trek! I Dream of Jeannie, The Adventures of SupermanI Love Lucy??? How is that even possible?

  5. ktbuffy

Look, you two. I’m sure I watched some of almost ALL of the shows on the list, and especially the ones you singled out. But can I swear to having seen at least three full episodes of each of them? Nope. I cannot.

Of course I’ve seen The Twilight Zone. The one with the demon-thing on the wing of the plane freaks me out every single time I fly. As for the others, I’d probably be among the first to recognize clips I’ve seen a hundred times. But three full episodes?

Also, please, not to put too fine a point on it… I’m a youngster. My classic education in television began with Charlie’s Angels, The Brady Bunch, Family Ties, and many more. Although, if you want to talk about 1970s era Sesame Street, I’m your gal.

But… reruns! Didn’t you come home from school and turn on the TV and watch whatever was showing on one of the local stations?

Oh, wait… They probably already had cable then, huh?

See, Dave and I would have have been limited to three networks (no good during the day) and four local stations, plus PBS and maybe one more local station on UHF. That meant reruns. Lots and lots of reruns from the 50s and 60s.
