I’m way behind on my P52, but trying to get caught up. The Week 27 was to photograph Collections:
they tell stories about us; our travels, our hobbies, our passions. Not a collector? That’s okay, truth be told, I’m a bit of a stuff-aphobe, but my son isn’t. Photographing your children’s collections is a great way to capture the details of their lives and when it comes time to part with the chachka, you have a permanent reminder of those important details. (I may have some bad news…my almost 22-year-old holds on passionately to just about everything that he is given or purchases). Photographing multiple objects can have a strong visual impact in your work too, adding a repetition in the form of shape, size or colour.
I was traveling this week, but was lucky enough to be at Doyce’s family’s farm, and to photograph one of their collections, a sun-bleached pile of antlers:
