P52: Week 17 — Where I Live

This week’s assignment:

This week I want you all to think about what areas you might take for granted and not shoot in because you think them less than perfect, or ugly. Stay as close to your home and city as you can, this is meant to open your eyes to what is around you and embrace it. Show us what is beautiful around you! Go out into your communities, or stay in your home and neighborhood. I dare you to find beauty in an area you live in that you have not necessarily seen as beautiful or photographically interesting and show us just how beautiful it is!

I think it’s telling that, as photographers, we often are experts at seeing the beauty where we live! I know I’m lucky, living in Colorado, with gorgeous mountain vistas, wide open spaces, lakes, and parks nearby. So I chose to stay VERY close to home. We moved houses about two years ago, and while we’ve made the inside the home our own, we haven’t done much outside yet. I’m shamed into keeping up appearances in the front yard, but the back yard is just a disgrace. I want to rip everything out and start from scratch, but in lieu of that, here’s a pic of my white dog in the one corner of the backyard that has some greenery, even if it is just a wild mess!
