OK, so I’m falling behind already, but this was a tough one! This was at a cocktail party my company hosted for authors and publishing friends on the 27th floor of a downtown hotel, with beautiful views of the city around us. You can’t see them in this shot, of course, but as opposed to many of my pictures of my kids, I love that this isn’t just a portrait of people. It’s also about the feel of it, and the location is a big part of that — we’re clearly in a bar or restaurant, with tables behind the subjects of food with little labels, more party-goers behind them fading into darkness, and the sense of something bigger in the windows all along the wall.
