I chaffed a bit at the challenge of documentary photography, but I’ve found a tentative balance between setting up for a documentary shot, and then tweaking it slightly for a posed shot. This is one of the former — shot from above of my son to minimize the distractions, with the deliberate line of the carpet to frame it.
