Horse Country.
While not quite up to NYC standards of grids, many of the streets around Denver do run somewhat straight, or at least in a generally consistent direction. Orchard, however, which runs mostly east-west, forces you to take a detour through one of my favorite neighborhoods nearby, where the land is still zoned for horses and the houses range from old-fashioned farmhouses to Italianate villas and other modern styles. Some of them are even for sale!
Not that we’re looking, but man, it’s nice to dream…
