P52: Week 6 — Directional Light

This week’s assignment was to play with directional light — specifically, side light:

“In the most general of terms, side light comes from one side of the image, and the light source is directly at the subjects’ side.

This kind of light is full of contrast, casts heavy shadows, and creates moody pictures with strong impact.”

In looking at the assignment thread, I was immediately inspired by the leader’s portrait of her husband, and wanted to try something similar with Doyce. While I liked this shot, it wasn’t what I wanted to do for the week.

By accident, I also got a great one of Zoe in early Sunday morning side light.

But my favorite, and this week’s official image, I saw when these two were intently watching Batman, light only by the TV, and Daddy’s reading light!
