P52: Week 12 — Get To Know Your Gear, Part 4 — Know Your Limits

I’m late with this prompt, but it was a tough one! We were asked to explore our camera’s limits, whether that means ISO, grain, shutter speed, white balance, aperture, or what have you. “Whatever limit you decide to explore this week, share your image and explain to the group what you found out about your camera’s limits and how this knowledge will play into your decision-making process for future shoots.”

It took a while, but I finally decided on an image from a Nia class at the Y. I love getting pictures of the dancers in class, but it’s always a struggle to find the right balance of focus, light, speed, and white balance! This was taken with my 24mm-70mm lens at 55mm, at 1/160 sec, f/3.5, and ISO 3200. I like the background blurred, and would have liked to stop more of her movement, but at a faster shutter speed, it just wasn’t bright enough!

On to the next week!
