P52: Week Four — Sign of the Times

Another week, another photo!

The assignment:

This week, let’s pull out our crystal balls and imagine what life might be like in 10-20 years. What are some things we see/use routinely today that might have changed/disappeared by then? Show us.

I had considered photographing an old stack of letters I had from when I lived in Europe, and corresponded with all my friends and family by airmail, but then we were putting a fourth desk in my home office, in order to expand my business, and I just loved the light falling on this old phone. It’s sort of a cheat — it’s an old fashioned style phone that worked as a regular touch tone phone in my old NYC apartment, but when I moved to Colorado, we dropped the landline for just cell phones, and it doesn’t have any use any more except as a kids’ toy.

  1. I have one of those phones, too! Love your shot. My kid can’t believe that we all used to have phones like that and no phone to carry around with us.

  2. What a classic! Love the text on your photo too.

  3. Oh, those phones, waiting for the dial to come back around from the 9!
